CM should protest denial of drought aid: Manpreet

  • Chandigarh: People’s Party of Punjab chief Manpreet Badal on Friday called upon the ruling SAD to withdraw party representative Food Processing Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal from the NDA government at the Centre to lodge its protest against the denial of drought relief to the state. He slammed it as yet another “discrimination” by the Modi government against Punjab.

Muktsar, January 1

Putting all speculations to rest over Manpreet Badal-led People’s Party of Punjab (PPP) merging with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) during Maghi Mela on January 14, the PPP has sought permission from Muktsar district administration to hold its own rally.
Tejinder Singh ‘Jimmy’ Brar, a local Municipal Councillor (MC), who is general secretary of the PPP, submitted an application to the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) office seeking the permission.
“The PPP will hold a political conference on January 14 in Muktsar,” said Jaijeet Singh Johal, vice-president, PPP, who is brother-in-law of party chief Manpreet Badal.
Johal added, “There are rumours that the PPP is merging with some other party or we are joining some other party. These are all speculations and nothing else.”
He said they had sought permission for the same place where it had held their rally in the past — opposite the district Police Lines on the Bathinda road here.
