Channi meets mishap victim’s kin

Congress Legislature Party leader Charanjit Singh Channi today visited the family of a 12-year-old Dalit girl, Arshdeep Kaur, who was crushed under the bus of a SAD leader.

He promised the family of legal help in getting justice. “We will raise the matter in the state Assembly and apprise the Cabinet of lawlessness prevailing in the state,” said Channi.

Hardev Arshi, CPI state secretary, too expressed solidarity with the aggrieved family. Most leaders who so far visited the family criticised the Badals for their alleged indifferent attitude.

Sources, meanwhile, allege that the SAD leadership has told the BJP leaders not to visit Channu village. State BJP chief Kamal Sharma had on Monday said party leader Som Parkash would meet mishap victim's family on December 15. "The top SAD leaders then advised the BJP against it," the sources said.

Sukhbir avoids visiting Channu

Deputy CM Sukhbir Badal arrived at Badal village last evening, but he did not visit Channu village, which is 6 km away.
