Jammu, September 5
To attract a large number of domestic and foreign tourists to the state, the Tourism Department has decided to make short films and TV advertisements.

Initially, a three-minute promotional film and a 60-second TV commercial will be made to showcase the tourist spots and tourism-related activities of the state to attract foreign tourists. For the purpose, a comprehensive policy has also been framed for launching other media campaigns.

A senior official of the Tourism Department told The Tribune that they had invited tenders for a TV commercial and a promotional film before the winter so that more tourists could be attracted. He added that all the sport and adventure tourist spots, besides religious places and lakes would be shown in the film and the advertisement.

To make the policy more effective, Tourism Minister Nawang Rigzin Jora had directed the authorities concerned to consult reputed agencies of the country, like the advertisers of “Incredible India”, which had a niche in the promotion of tourism, the official said.

“Our focus will be to showcase the true picture of today’s Jammu and Kashmir and the natural beauty of the state so that the fear in the minds of people could be allayed,” he added.

The official said the department was keen on promoting the tourism-related activities as some roadshows had already been held in other countries.

Recently, Germany amended its adverse travel advisory on Kashmir and this would give a fillip to the tourist flow to the state, he hoped.

He said the state government with the help of the Central government was trying its best to inspire and convince other European Union member nations to change their adverse travel advisories on Kashmir.
